What is worth talking about in a career’s worth of contradictions across his myths and his music is that White, who looks exactly like whatever the hell we mean when we say all guy, was the engine behind the White Stripes’ “I’m Slowly Turning Into You”-which amounts to a man saying to a woman he is quite literally losing himself in her. Or maybe that’s subjective jibber-jabber? I don’t know. The lo-fi production feel of some of his early stuff, when contrasted to his literary, psychologically deep-diving, theological themes, floods the music with the paralytic peace of opposites canceling each other out yet also kinda not–and it just works. Other parts of the search for meaning in his music tap into such abstract territory that you reach meaninglessness from the other side. The only thing it “means” that he could make a two-person band sound like a brawl or parade is that he mastered the use of the whammy pedal to thicken up the sound of a single guitar, even live. And how he can put on a show that rivals ’80s glam in theatrics but in a way that relies on stripped instrumentation, facial contortions, grease, sweat, and primary colors. There’s that mythological-meets-barebones, Detroit-born-country-gentleman thing of his. If you’re so inclined-if you really like ambitious bluesy garage rock and don’t exhaust easily-it’s fascinating to consider. I'd be delighted to hear what you all have to say about this! Enjoy everybody.Contradiction is such a pillar of who Jack White is as a performer that it feels delicate to claim any of his thousand discrepancies “mean something”. Just a few off the top of the dome, obviously Turner doesn't have to of taken a picture with them or evem know for that matter. joking of course Turner can give the heroin a miss:D (sidenote: look how nervous Turner is:AWESOME: Can't say I blame him though.) Right Now we don't know what kind of music either plans to make on their next albums so its hard to tell what they'd come up with, but I'm sure Turner would jump at the chance to make some tracks with Julian in particular. ![]() (I know super obvious, sorry.) For someone like me as a massive fan of all 3 this would be way too much. + Julian Casablancas And Albert Hammond Jr. (Although im sure ill get my fill of them after the submarine soundtrack comes out.) + Richard Hawley for an EP would be great, 5 or 6 nice slow songs with them 2 swapping vocals on a more delicate record sounds great to me.Already a great respect between the 2 as well. ![]() (Wouldn't mind seeing him produce a track or 2 for the next AM B-Sides either) + Jack White Would be f-cking sick to say the least, Them 2 together would come up with something along the lines of a whole album of the darker tracks on humbug but with White's amazing gutiar playing and vision, picture his take on The Jeweller's hands. Andrew has got some strange things going on in his head but its clear to everyone hes a creative genius, hes certainly the type of guy that would broaden Turner's train of thought, Turner'd want to be careful around him with the drugs though:lol: Turner's already been to france and hes im sure he cant be far off marrying a model, so that leaves Andy to fill in the heroin and fuck with the stars bit haha. + Andrew VanWyngarden would be really cool they seem to be similar people both very nice. So who you like to see Alex to adapt a similar style to? ![]() So obviously doing TLSP let him try something different things (like the big orchestra feel to alot of the tracks, also things like doing some backing vocals.) ![]() Just out of curiosity who would you guys like to see Alex do a album/EP with?
